On August 5th, 1966, The Beatles released their seventh UK album, Revolver.

Arriving only three and a half years after The Beatles getting signed to EMI Records, and two years after their first Ed Sullivan appearance, it combined their best songwriting to date with incredibly adventurous arrangements and instrumentation.

You've all heard Revolver. You know.

Says Kenny Howes, the host of this event: "In the USA, I feel it may not have been appreciated as much as it is today - the American version had some tracks deleted, and no songs from Revolver were performed live during The Beatles' 1966 tour. Plus, it was overshadowed by the 'bigger than Jesus' controversy, and perhaps their disastrous tour of The Philippines. So perhaps it didn't get 100% approval then. Plus, it was kind of weird."

In spite of that, it was still a top seller, and with the 1987 CD issues of The Beatles catalog (making the original UK releases the worldwide standard), many fans now consider it the best Beatles record.

Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream.
