Let’s Band Together

Let’s be real and raw for a second. Social media tends to be a place where people post their highlight reel. Tonight, let’s vary from that. The transition from resident to attending is rocky. Changing hospitals is even harder. I have come to know a few consultants, but the majority don’t know who I am and have little patience for someone who is fresh out of residency. Getting yelled at by consultants has become the norm for me this week. I would love to say that I bore it well, but the truth is my skin isn’t as thick as I would like. I take it pretty hard because I’m trying my best. Some days my best still makes mistakes. I will take these moments as learning experiences. I will look back and know that I came a long way. Right now is just the beginning. I might stumble. I might fall. But I will always pick myself back up again.

Psst: Federico Archuleta’s murals pop up in unexpected places across the city—particularly in East Austin, where he often portrays themes of unity and pays tribute to Latino culture.
