Ikon host the Birmingham branch of ‘Missing Post Office UK’, a project inviting visitors to write letters and thoughts they never intend to send. Japanese artist Saya Kubota established the project back in 2013 and an office still operates from the small island of Awashima where 7,000 letters created by people from all walks of life are carefully held by Mr Nakata the postmaster. All the letters deposited at IKON between October and December will be displayed in a show next year taking place at the Daiwa Foundation in London.
