Christmas is a great time of year to stick two fingers up at calories and really indulge. But even those with a larger appetite will eventually tire of too many mince pieces and start to feel sluggish after the fiftieth turkey sandwich.

Conveniently, delivery service Deliveroo has recently come to Birmingham, meaning you can take a break from the sprouts and enjoy something delicious from one of the many restaurants in the city centre, Moseley, Harborne and Edgbaston.

So, to help you pick an alternative takeaway treat on the run up to Christmas, here are 12 of the most outstanding and delicious meals you can get sent straight to your door, without having to lift a finger in the kitchen:

Dirty Cow Burger Co

Kicking off our 12 days of food is the Flaming Doom from Dirty Cow Burger Co, a burger that claims to be the spiciest in Birmingham. Alternatively, you can stay seasonal and grab yourself a special Christmas burger, the Rudolf's Nose.

So, treat yourself to a premium dish of its Lobster Panchphoran: a whole lobster freshly sourced from Birmingham's award wining fish market, paired with prawns and seasoned with a multitude of spices and mustard paste.

Rub Smoke House

Hung, drawn and quartered may have once been a medieval torture method, but there's nothing unpleasant about a Rub Smokehouse feast: Hung Drawn and Quartered is a dish for two containing a selection of all its smoked meats served with fries, smoked cheese mash, corn on the cob and slaw.

If you've yet to sample this Japanese cuisine, give the Teppanyaki Udon Noodles a go. This dish features chicken and tiger prawns, tossed in a miso soy sauce with chikuwa and other vegetables.

Pair it with one of a Japanese beers and day six can be the perfect date night in.

No meal is complete without something sweet to round it all off, so rather than a partridge in a pear tree, we're finishing with a treat from Heavenly Desserts.

For example, enjoy a freshly made Waffle or crepe, topped with warm milk Belgian chocolate, fresh strawberries, a scoop of stracciatella (ice cream with chocolate shavings) and whipped cream. Or you can swap the strawberries and stracciatella for fresh bananas and crème caramel ice cream.
