Offering a weekend of hot air balloons, pop star tribute acts and fairground rides to entertain all the family, the touring Balloons and Tunes festival will be heading to Birmingham for the first time this August.

Along with all the white-knuckle entertainment you expect from a giant funfair, Balloons and Tunes will also have a dedicated stage featuring tribute performances from Pink, Rihanna, Take That and Beyonce.

The festival also promises a full program of family entertainment by street theatre artists Artizani, complete with circus performers, jugglers, stilt walkers and magic.

However, undoubtedly the biggest draw are the hot air balloons, which will be lined-up for the Glow Night on the Saturday evening. This choreographed display starts around 9.30pm (weather permitting, of course) and will see a selection of balloons lit up in time with a musical score.

Plus, there will be trade stalls, food courts and a fully licensed bar so grown-ups can enjoy a drunken spin on the Twister too.

The fairground will be open from 6-9pm on Friday 14. Entry is free but there will not be any balloons on display or musical performances. On Saturday, the festival will be open from midday-10pm, with the Glow Night in the evening. On Sunday 16, the festival will be open midday-6pm.

Balloons and Tunes, August 14-16, Victoria Park, Smethwick, Birmingham. Entry is free (Friday) and cost £3 for Saturday and Sunday. Children under 1m go free.
