Beer-centric bar beloved of young creatives and anyone with a taste for bracingly strong brews

Birmingham born and bred, this independent coffee shop and bar is a local institution, having begun life in Kings Heath before making the move to opening a sister venue in the heart of the bustling city centre. It’s position on John Bright Street puts it at the core of a recently resurgent strip of popular bars and restaurants.

You’ll find a range of appetising comfort food here, from American-style pancakes with a coating of syrup, to a wonderfully satisfying falafel burger that even the meatiest of meat-eaters have been known to savour. Not only that, but the atmosphere is warm, welcoming and chilled-out.

The lunch menu features treats like irresistible pulled pork sandwiches, moreish meat platters, cheesey nacho trays and juicy home-made burgers. Not leaving vegetarians out in the cold, Cherry Reds puts on a host of tempting veggie delights. The halloumi and roasted vegetable sandwiches are a highlight.

If you’re there in the evening (or earlier - we won’t judge), you might want to check out the selection of draught beers from around the world. They also do ciders, wines and cocktails, making it an ideal spot to unwind after work and take it easy. Two for one cocktails at happy hour anyone? Be there between 4pm and 7pm to catch the deal.
