Time Out says

Local Birmingham residents have been busy designing their own currency and nominating the area's 'visionaries' whose profiles will be cast on the coins, as part of a competition inspired by the innovations and technical breakthroughs that took place at Boulton's Soho Mint in the 18th century. Launched by artists Chris Poolman and Elizabeth Rowe, the project's winning designs have been minted in Birmingham and distributed throughout the local community as a limited edition artwork celebrating those making a difference. The finished coins can be seen at Soho House, and those lucky enough to have been given one can benefit from free entry over the launch weekend and half price entry thereafter, plus free children's craft activities throughout the summer holiday and half price entry to four other heritage sites in Birmingham until Nov 1 2015.
