Time Out says

The first-ever JQ Festival takes place on the weekend of July 17-19, celebrating the creativity of Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter with a diverse three-day program of special events, tours and performances.

The festival marks the official opening of Golden Square, the new public space within the Quarter, as well as featuring the debut JQ open studios, giving you the chance to nose around behind usually closed doors and delve into the work spaces of the many creative individuals and businesses in the area.

As well as a whole host of family-friendly activities, including bands, dance troupes, face painting, a helter skelter and photo booths, there's the JQ Grand Bazaar and JQ StrEAT Market offering the best local vintage, crafts and street food, and a CAMRA-endorsed Real Ale Tour.

Also, the Legends Jazz Festival will form part of the weekend, with thirteen sessions spread across the Jewellery Quarter over three days, curated by British jazz master Henry Lowther.
