Now in its twelfth year, one of the most interesting alternative arts and music events of the summer returns from June 11 to June 14.

The festival will open on Thursday June 11 at Birmingham Town Hall with a performance by the Will Gregory Moog Ensemble - whose 11 members include one half of Goldfrapp and Portishead's Adrian Utley. Meanwhile, Friday and Saturday will see performances from post-punk innovators The Pop Group (pictured), shamanic black metalers Liturgy and US psychedelic rockers Eternal Tapestry, to name just a few.

The festival's final day will be curated by Newcastle singer-songwriter Richard Dawson, whose album 'Nothing Important' was released late last year to rapturous acclaim.

Taking place at new Digbeth venue The Crossing, with a second stage a few minutes walk away at the Boxxed warehouse that hosted last year's event, this year's Supersonic is looking to be the biggest and best instalment yet of a festival Brum should be mightily proud to call its own.
