Time Out says

There’s standup, and then there’s high-concept standup. This is your spot for Dirty Disney (think puns along the lines of “Bibbity Bobbity Boobs”) and High Hamlet (when actors meld the stylings of Shakespeare and Snoop Dogg). For a change of pace, “Player 1/Player 2” is a free night devoted to gaming—playing, discussing, predicting the gaming future and maybe even dabbling in a little VR.

Best of Boston Showcase

If you want to see where Boston comedy is headed, this showcase is a better bet than picking one name and hoping for the best. The Best of Boston Showcase gathers local comics for a rotating lineup, giving you a chance to catch several acts in one night and discover someone you may not have heard of yet. That format is especially useful in a city with a deep stand-up scene, where the next great set can come from a comic still building an audience. Hosted by Laugh Boston, the show keeps the focus where it belongs: on the performers and the room. Go in with an open mind rather than a favorite in mind, and you may leave with a new comedian to follow. It is a straightforward night of local stand-up, but the mix of voices is the reason to make the trip.
