Named after the co-founder of a free eye clinic for Boston's poor (now the world-renowned Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary), this building was originally a nurses' residence. These days it's a comfortable guesthouse, modestly done up with reproduction Victorian decor, but kept quite simple. Rooms range from small studios to full suites; most include a kitchenette, complete with refrigerator, stove and microwave. Continental breakfast is served each morning in the common room on the ground floor, and there's free wireless internet access. The shops and restaurants of Beacon Hill's Charles Street are on your doorstep, and Back Bay is within strolling distance.
