If you’re walking across the bridge to Boston’s Seaport District, you’ll probably notice the towering glass structure of Envoy Hotel. The gateway to one of the city’s most buzzing neighborhoods, the hotel encompasses 136 stunningly appointed guest rooms and suites situated right along the water. The views and hotel atmosphere are what attract both tourists and locals to the Envoy—it brags some of the most impressive rooftop views I’ve seen in the city, after all.
Why stay at The Envoy Hotel?
Located in the heart of one of Boston’s most popular neighborhoods, the Envoy Hotel is the perfect blend of city escape and ocean-front staycation—in other words, you can choose how to live your stay.
By day, stroll along the Seaport’s picturesque waterfront paths; by night, dive into its vibrant scene of elegant bars, open-air patios, and diverse restaurants. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame a lobby filled with cozy nooks and comfortable seating in warm tones of yellow and blue, anchored by a beautifully decorated chandelier at its center. With its prime location, the Envoy caters to every type of traveler—from solo adventurers to couples.
What are the rooms like at The Envoy Hotel?
The 136 rooms range from classic guest rooms and kings to coveted water-view corner rooms and suites. Design is elegantly minimalistic—think light wood furnishings, pops of yellow, and industrial lighting. Floating beds are perfectly positioned to take in harbor or city views through floor-to-ceiling windows, making it all the more tempting to stay under the covers.
Subtle nods to Boston’s history appear throughout the rooms, including maps of the city etched onto the bathroom glass, and all come equipped with Five Wits products, plush robes, a coffee machine, and a large TV mounted on a bicycle-inspired stand. My deluxe king room had amazing waterfront views of the Seaport bridge and city—ideal on a sunny day.
What is the food like at The Envoy Hotel?
What feels like the hub of the Seaport District, the Rooftop at the Envoy is busy year round with both tourists and locals alike. With sweeping an open patio and sweeping views in the warmer months and igloos in the winter, there’s really never a dull moment up there.
While the cocktail menu is pretty pricey, you certainly get what you pay for when it comes to flavor: my personal favorite was the Mezcal-infused ‘up in smoke’. The lunch menu features a list of handhelds and bowls, while the evening menu has your typical late-night snacks and comfort foods.
For something a little more intimate, head downstairs to Para Maria: art-strewn walls and pops of red furniture surround the open bar at the restaurant, with views of the glistening water. Helmed by Bar Rescue’s Chef Expert, Tatiana Rosana, the dishes are a mixed fusion of American classics and Cuban flavors with veggie, meat, and seafood options. You can’t go wrong with the grilled corn ribs or sizzling garlic butter shrimp—seasoned to perfection with enough sourdough to soak up the sauce.
What’s the service like at The Envoy Hotel?
As far as service goes, the staff are perfectly friendly throughout the guest journey. You receive a daily $15 credit to use at the outlets upon arrival; a warm welcome from the front desk team and porters; restaurant and bar staff willing to offer up recommendations if needed; and an in-room dining team ready for speedy delivery. Nothing feels forced. It seems the staff are genuinely eager to interact with visitors—especially out-of-town guests looking to learn more about Boston.
What are the facilities like at The Envoy Hotel?
With so much to explore nearby, the hotel keeps things simple when it comes to on-site amenities, but it does brag an impressively stocked fitness center. From Pelotons and weights to yoga equipment, plus fruit, water, and headphones provided, it’s the perfect spot to spend a rainy afternoon.
But come rain or shine, the Envoy ensures guests are prepared with enough to keep them amused. Included in the daily $15 destination fee is a choice of Envoy bicycle rentals or two tickets to the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) for 2 guests. There are also plenty of cozy nooks around the lobby area to relax and people watch, which is great for business travelers or those needing to squeeze in some laptop hours.
What’s the area like at The Envoy Hotel?
The Seaport District is a thriving neighborhood in the city filled with cafes, restaurants, bars, breweries, and museums, so if you’re visiting for the first time, this is really one of the best areas to be, particularly in the summer.
The hotel sits along the waterfront, so even in the evening, you’ll be just steps away from anything you need, and the Seaport has enough to occupy anyone looking to dine, shop, or stroll, but the Envoy is also walkable to other major neighborhoods, including Back Bay, Downtown, and the North End.
Why you should book a stay at The Envoy Hotel
There are few hotels in Boston that offer the perfect blend of city buzz and waterfront escape- and the Envoy Hotel is one of them. The hotel’s slogan, ‘This Way Forward’, truly reflects its mission to be more than just a place to stay—it’s about creating experiences that inspire, delight, and connect people. There’s really no other neighborhood in Boston you can stay where you’ll have everything at your fingertips—and with harbor views! Overall, the Envoy is a modern hotel in the heart of the city, that’s certainly worth it if you want to be near it all.
