Boston's major outdoor venue is pleasantly located in the South Boston waterfront area. It usually operates from May to October, featuring mainly mainstream rock, pop and R&B acts, with a sprinkling of contemporary newcomers. The Pavilion is basically a large tent, usually all seated, with an extensive concourse at the rear. Many gig-goers prefer to buy the cheaper concourse tickets, so that they can party at the back.
