Meat, good; meat at Boston Chops, very, very good. In a chic and cavernous South End space, restaurateurs Chris Coombs and Brian Piccini have reinvented the steakhouse, serving premium à la carte cuts that you can then customize with the sauce of your choice. A vertical stack of thick onion rings is an irresistible appetizer, but save room for later accompaniments: A server comes around with a bottomless bowl of frites throughout dinner service. The bar burger is also a draw, a thin-patty cheeseburger inspired by late-night Mickey D’s runs.
