On the Brighton-Brookline border sits a European-style bakery that specializes in authentic treats from Italy and France. One of the many items that enjoys a cult following (and often sells out) is a currant donut that’s baked, not fried. Based on a rare Swiss recipe, the donut received the ultimate accolade from Food & Wine, which named it one of the best in the country.

I bought a couple of scones and madeleines for breakfast and loved the overall balance and flavor of each of the pastries. The sweetness was not overwhelming and the scones were crumbly but moist. The madeleines also faired well when I decided to eat them a day after I bought them, still tasted delicious and fresh despite being stored in a fridge. Love this bakery, would trek out to Allston for more when I visit Boston!
