Restaurants Back Bay
With French doors opening out on to ever-chic Newbury Street and waiting staff as attractive as the scenery, Sonsie should by rights be a tourist trap. The fact that its eclectic, oft-changing menu is actually engaging - think wasabi-baked oysters with asparagus tempura or grilled trout with crayfish waffles - is a testament to the skills of long-term chef Bill Poirier. Still, people-watching from the café tables over cappuccinos or cocktails takes priority for the chic Back Bay denizens who frequent it.
