Crafts are cool again - as Magpie proves. Owned by four young creative types, it showcases handmade homewares, gifts, art and wearables by independent designers (some of whom live in the hip Somerville 'hood), at reasonable prices (many items are under $20). The displays are as unique as the wares: arty magnets are stuck to an old, wall-mounted fridge door, and notebooks and cards lean on a vintage typewriter. Adorable chenille cupcake pin cushions by Cape Cod-based Crazy Cakes, jewellery made from recycled cutlery and Supermaggie screen-printed T-shirts are just a few examples of the stock.
