State Street Barbers

With its dark wood interior and an old-fashioned barbershop pole beckoning, State Street Barbers looks every inch a throwback to the 1920s. But this isn't your grandfather's local barbershop, where you leave with a basic buzz cut (well, you could, but the staff are just as happy to give you a contemporary style). A standard haircut includes a shampoo and condition, a straight-razor neck shave, a shoulder massage and a drink (which, sadly, doesn't extend to granddad's Manhattans or gin and tonics). Walk-ins are welcome, and the salon also offers hot lather shaves, beard trims and exfoliating facials - another departure from the old days.
