The enormous 3,600-seat Wang Theatre—part of the Boch Center complex—is the big daddy of all Boston theatres. Originally known as the Metropolitan Theatre, the Wang opened in 1925. A huge restoration project in the late 1980s and early '90s restored the theatre's stunning gilt-trimmed interior to its former glory, and today it hosts everything from Broadway hits to Shakespeare, along with ballet, opera and the occasional pop concert.
