Time Out says

The Boston sites of the African American History Museum (not to be confused with its Nantucket location) encompasses both the oldest church built by free black inhabitants and the nation's first publicly funded school for African-American children. Both buildings easily predate the Civil War, and are a beautiful part of Beacon Hill's storied history.
