Time Out says

Cemetery Cinema, a film experience presented by Coolidge Corner Theatre, returns to Mount Auburn Cemetery on August 26 (rain date: August 27), starting at 8pm. Now in its fifth collaboration with the Coolidge, this beloved tradition is known for pairing thought-provoking films with one of America’s most beautiful and historic cemeteries. Each selection is chosen to resonate with the space and spark conversation about life, memory, and legacy. This year’s evening begins at sunset with the area premiere of a newly restored 4K edition of Atom Egoyan’s The Sweet Hereafter, a haunting, Oscar-nominated film meditating on loss and resilience in a small community. Gates of Heaven, Errol Morris’ celebrated debut documentary—exploring the unexpected places where love and memory linger—will follow as the second feature. Both films will unfold beneath the stars and among the tranquil gravestones, offering a rare chance to reflect on the intersection of art, memory, and place. Chairs, blankets, and snacks are encouraged, but no alcohol, please.
