Klezmer has always been music that brings people together, and that's exactly the spirit of this neighborhood celebration. The Klezmer Street Party takes over New Edgerly Plaza on July 5 from 6 to 8 p.m., with clarinetist Itay Dayan and a live band filling the plaza with the joyful sounds of Eastern European Jewish folk music. You don't need to know the steps to join in. A professional dance leader will teach simple folk dances throughout the evening, making it just as welcoming for first-timers as longtime fans of klezmer. Set in the heart of Fenway, the free outdoor gathering feels more like an impromptu block party than a formal concert, bringing music, dancing, and community together for one lively summer evening.
