When the sun shines, there are few better places to enjoy a beer than The Farm. So called because of its proximity to St Werburghs City Farm (the two establishments are next door to each other), the pub’s roomy, dog-friendly garden and covered terrace are a great place to unwind. While many make the pilgrimage over from nearby Stokes Croft, Montpellier and Easton, the vast majority of punters live in the surrounding area.
For the uninitiated, St Weburghs is Bristol’s most eco-friendly neighbourhood. Over the past few years, the area has become something of a Green Party stronghold, and there’s a definite free-spirited, grow-your-own feel about The Farm.
The building itself boasts an impressive paint job (think brilliantly rendered images of green fields and blue skies), the vegetarian-friendly menu boasts locally sourced produce, and children can regularly be spotted playing around in the garden.
Although the beer and cider range is relatively limited – look out for the delicious Hopback Summer Lightning – the Farm boasts an impressive rum selection. This comes in handy on weekends, when DJs spin a mix of reggae, ska, soul, funk, hip hop and party-minded mash-ups. During the summer, they sometimes stick the decks outside, fire up the barbecue and party all day. When they’re in the mood, it would be rude not to indulge.
