As Bristol prepares for the clocks to go back and longer nights, what better way to welcome the changing of seasons than with a celebration of Somerset cider and apples?

On Saturday October 24 you can Wassail your way into mid-autumn at the family friendly Apple and Cider Festival at the SouthBank Club in Bedminster.

Festival-goers will be invited to press and bottle SouthBank Cider, as well as to learn more about apples through talks, exhibitions and tastings of little known varieties of English Apples.

Throughout the day there'll be live music and, of course, a huge variety of local and artisan ciders, plus barbecue sausages and snacks at the bar.

If you want to take cider making into your own hands, there'll also be a course where you can discover tips and tricks for making a perfect artisan brew.

Or, you could take part in the Wasailling workshop where you can learn some classic wassailing tunes and the ancient custom of singing to the trees to promote a good harvest.

Cider and Apple Festival. Saturday October 24, 10am-midnight. SouthBank Club, Dean Lane, Bristol BS3 1DB. Tickets for festival cost £5, workshops priced individually. Find more information here

After you've enjoyed cider on Saturday, tuck into some autumn food at the Love Food Festival on Sunday.
