After celebrating their ninth birthday back in February with Derrick May and Optimo, Bristol's resident house crew, Just Jack, show no signs of slowing down in their tenth year of throwing events that will 'eat your head' .

Having built such a massive reputation for themselves, it's hardly a surprise that Red Bull Music Academy picked the club night, label, jack of all trades, to be one of its sounds of Bristol when they stop in the south-west this weekend on their UK tour.

Electronic-music oddball DJ Koze will be heading up a night at the Arnolfini on April 5 (10pm-4am) in which Royal Society research fellow Dr David Glowacki and his Danceroom Spectroscopy team (say, what?) explore the science of dance music with 'a large-scale, interactive molecular dynamics experience'.

With Italo Johnson also on the bill alongside Tom Rio, Dan Wild, Robin Sure and Jethro Binns, there'll be more than just a science lesson twisting your melon.

To celebrate Just Jack's nine years in the game, we asked founders Dan Wild and Tom Rio to tell us about their top-five Just Jack tunes and to close proceedings for us with an end-of-night classic. Enjoy.

Dan Wild's top-five Just Jack bangers

Buckley – Block Party
'I have to start at the beginning… so I've started at the very beginning. Buckley played our first ever party and this record was one of the reasons why. This was a massive record around the time of our first proper event at Dojo's. We'd been doing room-two gigs for a while, but this record really sticks out for me when thinking about our transition to Dojo's.'

Art of Tones – Praise
'This is another one from the Dojo's days. We used to be open until 9am and there was a time, before the club took on a more sinister atmosphere for a while, when we used to have such an amazing vibe at that time in the morning. The club used to be packed and it went off until the end. This track reminds me of the final hours, sweat dripping off the walls, the sun rising in the garden, and people losing their shit to great music.'

Ryan Crosson and Guti feat. Don Fuego – You've Got Me
'This track is from our fifth birthday. I'd seen Guti live at Cocoon the previous summer and was blown away by his live show. We booked him for our birthday the following February and he delivered. The fifth birthday was the last birthday we did utilising the smaller rooms at Motion. By the time our sixth birthday came around we were too big for that and moved into the main warehouse for the first time.'

Dualton and Ruthit – Black Market
'This record absolutely destroyed the Space Terrace in Ibiza when we did our first Just Jack terrace takeover for We Love... two years ago. The whole Just Jack extended family was there and this record just totally worked at the right moment. Carnage ensued.'

Paranoid London – Eating Glue
'Moving onto more recent times, it was an honour to have Paranoid London bring their live show to Motion for our last Halloween show. Fuck me, they're good live. We'll definitely be having them back.'

Tom Rio's top-five Just Jack bangers

Argy – Love Dose
'For the first few years, this sleazy little beast was one of the true staples of our late-night parties. The percussion hook is instantly recognisable and sometimes we'd tease it for hours before finally letting it play out. The man himself played for us a few times and I still reckon his extended set at Dojo's was one of the finest ever at the club.'

LFO vs Fuse – Loop
'This one doesn't need much of an intro – it's one of the few tracks in this list that still gets a regular play at the night, whether it's by Dan or me or one the guests. That organ riff still gets a cheer every time. It's so ahead of its time, like many of Mark Bell's productions, and it still sounds amazingly fresh when put up against stuff coming out now.'

Junior Boys – Like a Child (Carl Craig remix)
'Another one that used to regularly see in the early mornings back at Dojo's. This is Carl Craig at his best. The man is a visionary and this track for me epitomises that. Restrained, emotional, futuristic and sleazier than Dominique Strauss Kahn after two bottles of Merlot. Carl was one of the first really big names that played for us when we started doing bigger venues.'

The Mountain People – Mountain 004
'As well as having the best name in dance music, Peter Dildo made some solid house music. We used to play a lot of Mountain People records back in the early days and this one was arguably the most stand-out. It still reminds me of the red pulsing light flashing through the smoke at Dojo's.'

Mr G – TT Rum Bar (incl Seven Davis Jr remix)
'Although this is the newest in the list, this whole EP is arguably the most important to us. Its the next release on our own label and it marks a year of Just Jack Recordings. We're so honoured to be able to put out music by two of our heroes and can't wait to see what the future of the label holds.'

Tom's end-of-the-night tune is…

Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere
'Some of my favourite ever memories from the night have come from the lights being switched on. We always try to end on something a little different, whether it's an old, obscure disco track or something everyone knows, we try to play something everyone can get into. This one has had its fair share of "one more tune" moments and although everyone has heard it a million times, it still does the business. Even grumpy security guards desperate to man-handle everyone out of the club at 10am smile when this one comes on.'
