As any parent will know, getting babies and children to sleep is often a long and drawn out experience. For families in Southville, they might find bedtime a slightly more soothing experience on October 10, as the artwork Lullaby rolls into town.

Luke Jerram is a name you might recognise for his giant waterslides or spooky abandoned boats, but this is the first time the artist's work has been targeted specifically at young children.

Lullaby is a project that involves a fleet of bicycles with twinkling lights attached and playing a serene lullaby tune, that will cycle a route around the residential streets of BS3 at dusk.

This is not the first time that Jerram has put Lullaby into action, with it first taking place in Bristol in 2013. Since then, the project has gone on tour, appearing in Portland, Dorset, Tilburg, Holland and Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

Once again, Lullaby has partnered with Sustrans in Bristol and will form part of the celebration to commemorate 20 years of the National Cycle Network. Sustrans have a route of the ride here

Although the free tickets to take part in the ride have long since sold out, you can watch the bikes cycle past after setting off from Greville Smyth Park at 6pm, or as they head down Coronation Road by the river.

Lullaby. Saturday October 10, 6-8pm. Leaving from Greville Smyth Park, Ashton Road, Bristol, BS3 2EA.
