Mamma Mia! is coming to Bristol theatre land

The West End production of Judy Craymer's Mamma Mia! has apparently been seen by the equivalent of more than 10 per cent of the UK population. That's more than 6.4 million people, and this staggering number is set to grow even higher in 2016 when the show takes off around the UK.

Craymer's story of family and friendship put to the test on a Greek paradise island, delivered via ABBA's cloud-busting pop songs, will be pulling up in cities up and down the country including Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham and, lucky you, Bristol.

You've got a long wait until the actual show, but Mamma Mia!, which has been seen by more than 54 million people worldwide and has the honour (dubious or otherwise) of being the first Western musical to be performed in China, finally comes to the Bristol Hippodrome from March 25-May 7 2016.

Until then, prime yourself for ABBAgeddon by listening to the band's back catalogue (The Visitors, especially) on a loop and rediscover what happiness really is.

Tickets go on sale on Friday 27 March (Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! etc), so if you're stuck for a Mother's Day present this year why not feign forgetfulness and surprise mum with tickets a week or so later. Beware, though: everywhere (everywhere!) is ABBA heartland, so be quick when they go on sale.

More information about the UK tour is on the Mamma Mia! website.
