Recent events have once again brought into sharp focus the importance for greater understanding of other cultures. On November 21, Bristol's first International Peace Cafe hopes to do exactly that, providing the opportunity to hear from people from different backgrounds, while sampling delicious cuisine from around the world.

Hosted at The Kitchen on Silver Street, the cafe has been created in partnership with 91 Ways, a project launched in the summer with the ambition of using food to bring together the 91 language communities of Bristol.

The cafe will provide a relaxed space to talk and hear a fresh perspective of people from the city's diverse cultures. It will also introduce food and flavours not widely available in Bristol, from countries including Syria, Sudan, Russia and Iran.

If the cafe proves to be a success, the aim is for the cafe to become a recurring event, where anyone from any culture can come and eat new food and make new friends. Future events will be publicised on the 91 Ways website.

Bristol International Peace Cafe. Saturday November 21, midday-2pm. Silver Street, The Station, Bristol BS1 2AG. Suggested donation of £5 towards the cost of the food appreciated. Register your interest here.
