Ten-minute tour - Redlight

Redlight is a real Bristol boy done good. Constantly DJing at raves and festivals worldwide and renowned for his genre-bending, dancefloor-destroying productions, he's quite rightly regarded as one of dance music's biggest stars.

On Friday October 2, Redlight brings his Lobster Boy record label to the In:Motion opening party, inviting Mele & Slickdon, Mak & Pasteman, Mella Dee and Christophe to join him.

Ahead of that, Time Out tracked Redlight down for a ten-minute tour of the city he calls home...

My favourite Bristolian phrase or word is…
"Alrite mukka!" Or "It's a bit chipper out!"

My favourite memory of Bristol is..
The balloon fiesta. I remember watching the Hoffmeister bear hover over Bristol as a kid.

When I'm hungover and need to recover, I head to…
The Pipe & Slippers for a Sunday roast and a Pipe Dream ... If that doesn’t sort you out, you're in trouble.

When I have a gig and need something new to wear, my first stop is…
I used to go to Donuts or Seven, but they’ve both closed down... 5 points always has some fresh kicks, and Cooshti's great, too.

When I need to have a bloody good time, I go to…
That's easy - Motion or The Love Inn and maybe the Pipe.

If I’m trying to impress a visitor from out of town, I take them to…
If it’s a late-night vibey one, maybe to Hyde & Co; a hidden bar based on the 1920s prohibition era.

I buy my records from…
Idle Hands now, it’s the only one left!

The place I go to feed the ducks and think is…
I'd go down the to the river - I used to live by it a long time ago!

My favourite place to stuff my face is…
Thali Cafe or A capella for pizza.

And finally, the best thing about Bristol is…
You’re never more than five minutes from a good ol' knees up...
