UK jam night comes to Bristol seeking new music talent

While music sharing websites and countless online video channels have changed the rulebook when it comes to achieving public recognition, there are still plenty of musicians choosing to seek their fame the 'old fashioned' way – by playing in front of an audience and gaining the attention of a record label.

Meet & Jam is a networking organisation for musicians, that's launched a series of UK-wide Jam Nights with the aim of uncovering the UK's best jamming musicians and original acts as part of the Road to 100 Club competition.

At every Meet & Jam night, scouts will be looking for everyone from bands and solo artists, to vocalists, guitarists, drummer and trombonists. Everyone can apply to play at one of the 12 nights across the country between now and January 2016.

Musicians come together to jam over a series of up to 20 covers throughout the night with three original acts carefully chosen to play in the middle of the evening.

The best of the bunch (three original acts and up to 30 musicians) from all of the events will then be invited to an exclusive, industry-packed Grand Finale at The 100 Club in London on January 21, 2016.

The winning original act will receive a development deal with Island Records, while the runners-up will be awarded with a free PRS for music membership. For the individual jamming musicians, the best in each instrument category will win a brand new instrument and be crowned the ‘Meet & Jam' winner for 2015.

You can check the full list of Meet & Jam nights here, but local acts will likely find it easiest to attend the night at The Nest in Bath on October 15 and the Blue Lagoon in Bristol on December 3.
