Watch the M Shed cranes dance to bhangra music

The iconic cranes outside the M Shed on Bristol's Harbourside are normally a silent reminder of Bristol's industrial past. However, a special event on October 3 will prove the old machines still have some life left in them by performing a one-off choreographed dance spectacle you're unlikely to see again.

Crane Dance Bristol has been organised by Pervasive Media Studio resident Laura Kriefman, a choreographer with a reputation for creating unusual dance experiences with her company, the Guerrilla Dance Project. This particular event is a collaboration between M Shed, Underfall Yard, RSVP, The Balmoral, Bristol Gig Club, Bristol Channel Social Rowers and is supported by Watershed.

The three M Shed cranes will come to life for a synchronised performance as part of a unique collaboration that will also blend lights, rowing boats, choirs and even live music from RSVP Bhangra, the UK's number-one bhangra band.

This one of a kind opportunity to see the Harbourside in a completely new way will last 40 minutes and take place on the water next to the Arnolfini and will be free to attend. We're told that the best spot to watch it will be from outside the Arnolfini or Lloyds Amphitheatre

While no doubt a spectacle to behold, Crane Dance Bristol is just a warm-up for an even bigger event. Kriefman aims to create a huge synchronised crane dance for London in spring 2016, with ambitions to make the entire city's skyline 'dance'.

Crane Dance Bristol. October 3, 8pm. Harbourside, 1 Canon's Road, Bristol, BS1 5LL.
