This Stokes Croft landmark, shrouded in a blanket of graffiti, has been one of Bristol’s biggest clubs since the 1980s

If you fancy a few drinks with your mates in a nice intimate venue, then it’s probably best to give Lakota a swerve. However, if you feel like going to a three-room mega rave and have a good old skank, then it should definitely be on your agenda.

Back in the heady days of 1990s super clubbing, Lakota was one of the most famous clubs in the UK, regularly inviting superstars of house, techno and jungle from across the UK and world to come play in one of its many rooms.

Since the turn of the Millennium, the vast space has represented the rowdier end of the dance music spectrum, playing host to many of the city's larger drum ’n’ bass and psy-trance parties.

However, recent years have seen Lakota expand its repertoire somewhat, with more and more student-friendly nights cropping up and pushing less aggressively underground sounds.

The last year has seen acts such as Pearson Sound, Mosca and Mala all grace the decks, breathing fresh direction into one of Bristol’s longest running venues and ensuring it remains a relevant and integral part of the city’s club scene.
