Eat, dance and be merry at this Stokes Croft inn that features big-name acts by night and excellent Southern-inspired food by day

Team Love are a typical Bristol success story, veering in various directions but always keeping true to their primary goal – showing people a good time.

From their roots as promoters of one-off event nights, Team Love now put on festivals such as Love Saves the Day in Bristol and the Garden Festival in Croatia, as well as programming stages at Glastonbury and sound systems at St Paul’s Carnival.

It might not be easy to distil all of that into a single venue, but The Love Inn is a pretty fine effort. Regular nights include Horse Meat Disco and Back To Ours. Exemplary contacts within the music industry mean big acts, such as Neneh Cherry, have also played here. There’s even Slix Disco – a disco-infused homage to the Slix fast food joint across the road.

Food at The Love Inn comes from Stove Monkey, which provides popular Sunday roast options alongside an American smokehouse menu, and all the smoking, curing and barbecuing is done in house. The burgers deserve particular praise – meat lovers should get their chops around the beef brisket and pickled walnut burger, while vegetarians are spoilt with one of the best mac 'n' cheese burgers we’ve come across.
