In Buenos Aires, many of the city’s most sought-after restaurants become landmarks not only for their cuisine but also for their ability to anticipate what diners want. These are places that set trends, inspire new dining habits, and ultimately influence how the city understands the act of going out to eat—not just as a special occasion, but as part of everyday life.

Today, these restaurants are driving two key shifts in foodie culture. On the one hand, the move toward earlier dining hours—already common in other parts of the world. On the other, the push for more accessible options, with simplified menus, promotions, and discounts that broaden their reach. La Cabrera, always at the forefront, is a prime example of anticipating these changes: it identified new demands and adapted without compromising quality or identity, introducing a happy hour option with 40% discounts for those who dine between 6:30 and 8 p.m.

“We wanted to make our proposal more accessible, not just a restaurant for big celebrations. Happy Hour was born so that guests can enjoy the full experience—our cuts, sides, and wines—but with a special benefit that encourages them to come without waiting for a formal occasion,” explains Gastón Riveira, the soul behind this iconic spot.

Early Dinners Have Their Perks

Some time ago, La Cabrera decided to move dinner service earlier, starting at 6 p.m. The idea was designed not only to attract younger diners eager to explore the city’s culinary options, but also those who prefer to dine early—before the theater, or as part of a night with other plans.

“We chose that schedule because Buenos Aires is beginning to embrace earlier dinners, something already standard in other countries, and we wanted to be pioneers in that trend,” he says.

La Cabrera is not alone in this: Gastón Acurio’s La Mar, Chacarita’s wine bar Casa Seis, Palermo’s pizza spot Cosi Mi Piace, and many more restaurants have joined the movement.

“I think it’s a positive trend that gives the city a new rhythm. It comes hand in hand with travel, with the search for healthier habits, and with cultural changes after the pandemic. In Buenos Aires we’ve always eaten very late, but now a new generation enjoys doing it earlier—and La Cabrera wants to support that shift and set the pace for this new dining style,” explains the grill’s alma mater, which today has locations all over the world.

When Does La Cabrera Offer Discounts?

For early diners—or those who want to visit La Cabrera at least once—the deal is unbeatable: every day, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., guests can enjoy the full menu at 40% off. There are no restrictions: from the tomahawk and the cut of the month to the 600 g ribeye, everything is available during that time with the discount. Starters, desserts, and drinks included.

If Gastón Riveira himself were to sit at one of his tables, he’d choose: as a starter, the provoleta with sun-dried tomatoes and basil “for its simplicity and punch.” For a main, a juicy ribeye, and for dessert, a dulce de leche crêpe with ice cream—“quintessentially porteño and comforting.” To drink, without a doubt, a glass of Malbec.

Visiting these kinds of places is not just about eating well—it’s an experience that goes far beyond, combining hospitality, quality ingredients, and a touch of magic. In La Cabrera’s case, it’s a gift to the soul and the inner child, a direct path to cherished memories and the creation of new ones that will become part of our lives.

“It’s a feast of flavors and hospitality. From the moment you sit down, the table fills with iconic cuts, a variety of sides, wines, and service that makes everything warmer and more fun. It’s about living Argentine tradition with intensity, but with a touch of creativity that makes every visit unique,” says Gastón.

In short, La Cabrera and many of Buenos Aires’ top restaurants are redefining their role: moving beyond being exclusive spots for special occasions and becoming more accessible spaces that embrace new habits and lifestyles. A shift that not only transforms the way we dine out, but also the way the city experiences and celebrates its food culture.
