Casa Sommer

In this house-museum, not only does the Municipal Historical Archive operate, but also the Municipal Library of Cascais, with all the works edited or supported by the municipality. Formerly the residence of millionaire businessman Henrique Sommer, it was inaugurated by the Museum Neighborhood in 2016. On the top floor is part of the archive, with a space for consultation of works, where you can find the desk of Branquinho da Fonseca (1905-1974), the father of itinerant libraries in Portugal. On the middle floor, you will find temporary exhibitions. On the ground floor, the aforementioned municipal library of the town resides.
