‘Cascais – Time Is on Your Side’ took second prize in the Tourism Innovation category at the 19th ART&TUR – International Tourism Film Festival.

The story of a visitor who appears to grow younger as he discovers Cascais has earned Cascais Tourism international recognition. The film Cascais – Time Is on Your Side took second place in the Tourism Innovation category at the 19th ART&TUR – International Tourism Film Festival. The award was presented on 30 October at Centro de Arte de Ovar during the festival’s closing ceremony.
Released this year, the film was directed by António Aleixo, who was also behind the multi-award-winning Remote Workers, and is loosely inspired by The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. It follows a protagonist who appears to regain his youth during a visit to Cascais. Along the way, there’s golf, food, culture, the sea and outdoor experiences, in a story that aims to show the destination beyond its usual tourist attractions.
That is precisely the idea behind Time Is on Your Side: to present Cascais as a place where there is time to enjoy things at a different pace. According to Bernardo Corrêa de Barros, president of Cascais Tourism, the approach aims to showcase not only the variety of experiences available, but also the quality of life that defines the destination.
The distinction joins other awards won by films promoting Cascais, including Remote Workers. It comes after an edition of ART&TUR that received 247 films from 45 countries, with 51 productions from 25 countries selected for the official programme. The festival ran from 27 to 30 October, bringing together film and tourism professionals for debates, masterclasses and other activities.
