There are hotels you go to just to sleep. And then there are hotels you go to in order to learn how to stop. The new Longevity Senses Cascais Boutique Hotel & Clinic belongs – without a doubt – to the second category.

Set on Estrada do Guincho, with the Atlantic stretching out in front of you, this is a place to realign body and mind. Where the Senhora da Guia Boutique Hotel once stood – a five-star Cascais classic with more than 30 years of history – now sits a space where luxury goes hand in hand with health and wellbeing, free from rush or unnecessary noise. And yes, all five stars are still very much there.
From the moment you step through the doors of Longevity Senses Cascais Boutique Hotel & Clinic, it’s clear that raised voices have no place here. Calm settles in and, almost without you noticing, carries you into another world. Soft light, neutral tones and a serene atmosphere flow throughout the hotel. This is an adults-only retreat, designed for those moments when a break from the kids is the bare minimum. Not that children aren’t the best thing in the world – but let’s be honest, even the best parents deserve a pause.
The promise is both simple and ambitious: to pamper you, restore you and send you back into the world feeling just a little better than when you arrived.
Longevity has 39 rooms and suites across several categories, including a handful of villas for extra space and privacy. The décor strikes a careful balance between old-school charm and contemporary design, moving between clean minimalism and more playful patterns. Light tones dominate throughout, with a clear emphasis on light itself – natural, whenever possible.
Most rooms come with a balcony or private terrace, almost always overlooking the sea, making them ideal for that first early-morning coffee or for winding down with a book as the sun sets.
The beds are seriously comfortable – good luck resisting those extra five minutes after the alarm goes off. Add solid soundproofing that keeps the neighbour’s late-night TV at bay and an atmosphere that helps the body relearn something we often forget: how to truly rest. Sleeping here isn’t just a pause. It’s part of the treatment.
At the hotel restaurant, Six Senses, the keyword is balance. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the kitchen is inspired by the Mediterranean diet, using local and seasonal ingredients and easily adapting to detox programmes or specific health plans. But make no mistake: healthy does not mean boring. You’ll eat really well here, and all with flavour, and without that healthy-at-all-costs feeling.
Take our advice and don’t start your meal without the warm bread from the couvert, dipped in fragrant olive oil, as tradition dictates. From there, move on to the Jóias da Ria Formosa, the classic Bulhão Pato clams or the Pureza Atlântica – natural prawns, perfectly cooked.
When it comes to fish, the grouper rice with prawns, scented with organic fresh coriander, delivers pure comfort with a fine-dining touch. Another standout is the seared tuna in a sesame crust, served with sweet potato purée, fresh green beans and a balsamic reduction.
For meat lovers (even this close to the sea), the organic fillet steak with butter and fresh herbs, sweet potato purée and micro-vegetables is guaranteed to get your mouth watering. There’s also the duck magret, served on a bed of grapefruit and pear risotto.
Vegetarian? You’re well covered: quinoa rolls with tomato glaze and pea shoots; fresh vegetable curry with fragrant basmati rice; or falafel with lime couscous, pineapple, chives and coconut milk.
And because no meal is complete without something sweet, try the 70% cocoa mousse with red berries. For the few and misunderstood who don’t like chocolate, the cold strawberry soup with mint and pineapple ice cream, or the lemon cheesecake, are just as tempting.
To toast between bites, there are more than 50 wine references – reds, rosés, whites, Vinho Verde, champagne and dessert wines. If in doubt, trust the head waiter. You won’t leave disappointed.
On warmer days, the outdoor pool bar takes centre stage, with lighter options such as gazpacho, salads and sandwiches, fresh drinks and that holiday feeling that pairs so well with the sound of the sea. In winter, the heated terrace lets you keep the outdoor ritual without chattering teeth.
By now, you’ll have realised that calm is the main currency here. And the spa is one of the hotel’s biggest stars. The water circuit includes a heated indoor pool, sauna, Turkish bath, sensory showers and an ice fountain for the brave.
From deep-tissue and stress-relief massages to oriental therapies, body treatments, exfoliations, wraps and special baths, the menu is extensive and available by appointment only. The spa is open to both hotel guests and external visitors, with day passes, vouchers and individual treatments that also make excellent gift options.
There’s also an outdoor saltwater pool – gentler on the eyes and skin and free from that lingering chlorine smell. Right next to it, a jacuzzi and sun loungers for topping up your vitamin D.
In the gym, workouts go by faster thanks to top-notch equipment and a view that motivates even the laziest among us. Whatever cardio you choose – treadmill, bike, elliptical or stairmaster – you’ll be facing a wall of glass and the Atlantic beyond. You can also join one of the outdoor yoga sessions in the dome.
The clinic is, without exaggeration, the heart of this project. A major investment in medical equipment has created a fully licensed, highly specialised space that goes far beyond the classic wellness concept. Consulting rooms seem to go on forever, offering services you didn’t even know you needed, with daily and personalised follow-ups.
You’ll find full biophysical assessments, structured longevity, detox, sleep management and anti-ageing programmes, intravenous vitamin therapies, cellular regeneration treatments, cryotherapy (at -140°C to -160°C), hydrocolon therapy, osteopathy, physiotherapy, pain management and advanced facial and body aesthetic technologies. Everything is by appointment, tailored to guests or external clients. You can book services à la carte or choose two-to-seven-night programmes designed to send you home feeling brand new.
Here, everything is measured, assessed, monitored and adjusted. It’s not about miracles. It’s about methods. And leaving feeling better is not a vague promise, it’s a guarantee.
At Longevity Senses Cascais, luxury is time. Time to breathe, to take care, to sleep, to listen to your body. A hotel where, at last, resting isn’t wasting time – it’s investing it.
