It opened in 1965 at the hands of Eduardo Santos – forever known as Eduardo das Conquilhas. In the early days, he served coffee, soft drinks, salt cod fritters and rissóis, until one day he decided to add a small, delicious shellfish to the mix: conquilhas. Six decades on, it remains in the family’s hands and is a bona fide institution along the Cascais coastline – and even across Greater Lisbon – for top-notch seafood. The queues at the door on summer evenings say it all.
