10 heartwarming displays of Cubs pride in Chicago

Advertising

As the Cubs prepare to enter the team's first World Series since 1945, Chicago is getting behind the team in a big way. Local businesses are hoisting up W flags, putting Cubs hats on their mascots and supporting the North Siders on their (long) quest for a championship. We've gathered some of our favorite displays of Cubs pride from all around Chicago, including restaurants, museums, attractions and more.

The Field Museum

The Field Museum has gone all out in support of the Cubs this year, putting a Cubs jersey on the brachiosaurus skeleton that stands outside the museum and draping a W flag from the mouth of a pterodactyl hanging in the lobby.

Adler Planetarium

Over at the Adler Planetarium, the team spirit is a bit more subtle. A photo opportunity in the "Mission Moon" exhibit which usually displays an American flag has been switched out in favor of the W flag.

(C)UBS Tower

Some clever people at the UBS Tower at One North Wacker realized that the company's name is just one letter short of the North Siders' moniker. So, someone went ahead and added the letter, in the form of a Cubs banner.

City Hall

City Hall has been flying the W all throughout the Cubs postseason, even on days when the team didn't exactly emerge victorious. It must be a good luck charm of sorts, because the flags are still up and the team is in the World Series.

Navy Pier

Navy Pier's bigger, better Ferris wheel is getting in on the postseason celebration. The wheel has been lit up in blue and red and frequently displays the Cubs logo and the W on its gigantic circular LED screen.

The Art Institute

The lions in front of the Art Institute are huge sports fans—in the past, they've been known to wear Blackhawks and Bears helmets. Now, for the first time ever, they're showing off some brand new Cubs hats.

Civic Opera House

Anyone with opera tickets is probably having a hard time catching the game after a three hour performance, but the Lyric Opera is showing its allegiance to the North Side team with some clever signage.

The Wieners Circle

Lakeview hot dog stand the Wieners Circle has been feeding plenty of Cubs fans all throughout the playoffs (including 108 who received free hot dogs after the stand won a wager with L.A.'s Pink's Hot Dogs). The location has also supported the team with its sign, most recently complimenting bullpen catcher Chad Noble on his hot dog speedo.

Little Goat Diner

The curse of the Billy Goat has long haunted the Chicago cubs, but there's at least one goat who is rooting for the team to win the World Series this year. At Little Goat Diner, the restaurant's spinning sign is currently emblazoned with a W—plus, you can do your part to break the curse by eating a goat burger.

The skyline

If you've been up late after a game, you've probably noticed that Chicago's skyline has been getting in on the Cubs celebration. Both Prudential Plaza buildings are lit up in blue and red and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Tower reads "Go Cubs Go." It's a beautiful sight.
