2015 Detroit Turkey Trot And Thanskgiving Day Parade says
Thanksgiving Day in the 'D means turkey dinner, a Lion's win, the annual Detroit Thanksgiving Day parade AND the the annual Turkey Day Trot races before the start of the parade - with 20,000+ runners.

Start times:
10k and 1 mile: 7:30 am
5k: 8:30 am

The race starts and stops at the intersection of Woodward and Jefferson Avenue. Many meet at Cobo Hall prior to the start.

With everyone downtown for the parade and race - its a nightmare to park near the race start - don't try it! More than a few runners have mega-late due to being stuck on the Lodge Freeway. You need to leave very early for this one.

Best place to park? In the general - the area of Fort Street and Trumbull near the main post office and near Wayne County Community College....there is free on street parking and some off street lots as wells and you get an easy 1/2 mile warm up on the way to Cobo Hall. A Detroit best kept secret for parking for this event - well at least until we shared it herein...

Registration and more information:

These events are Detroit at it's finest. Come on out and walk or run or just watch the parade - we have so much to be thankful for in this region - and so many friendly and cool people to share it with. Lace up 'them shoes and get out there
