Join us at the Library for our upcoming Author Talk event with Raymond Lambert, the man behind America’s one-time preeminent black comedy club in Chicago, All Jokes Aside.

Lambert visits the Library to discuss his new book that goes by the name -- you guessed it -- "All Jokes Aside:Standup Comedy is a Phunny Business."

This uplifting, entertaining, and instructive memoir explores how investment banker Raymond Lambert used his experience in the financial sector to open All Jokes Aside and how it catapulted some of the biggest names in the business to the national stage including: Jamie Foxx, Mo’Nique, Chris Rock, and Steve Harvey, among others.

Raymond Lambert is an entrepreneur, independent producer, and adjunct professor at Columbia College. He wrote and produced the award-winning documentary film Phunny Business, and is executive producer on Maya Angelou: The People’s Poet. He is the founder of the comedy club All Jokes Aside. Chris Bournea is a journalist and documentary filmmaker. He is a contributing writer for the Columbus Dispatch, This Week Community News, and the Call and Post Newspaper, Ohio's oldest and largest African-American newspaper.

Limited parking is available in the employee lot located off of Putnam, between Cass and Woodward, but you must enter through the public entrances on Cass or Woodward. Metered on-street parking is also available.
