boaconstructor (DJ set): “Chiptune” music has traditionally been praised not only for its deviation from the status quo, but for its willingness as a genre to take on a responsibility for providing an alternate route to complete the musical process. Seattle-based boaconstructor takes on that responsibility with supreme gusto and raises the community standards entirely: what is most important to boa is not just the alternate musical process, but the ability to bridge the gap between standard full-production underground club music and lo-fi chiptune culture. Since 2012, Michael Bradley (AKA boaconstructor) has been incorporating the styles of dubstep, hip hop, trap, Jersey/B-More club, footwork, and grime into his extensive creative pallet for modern bass music production via Nintendo Gameboys running the programs “nanoloop” and “LSDJ”. His distinctive take on West Coast bass music has kept dance floors raucous and unruly all over North America, surely due greatly to his unique Gameboy-controlled live experience. Ultimately, boa represents the deep link that exists between the musical PROCESS and the musical PRODUCT. For boa, connecting the way his music is made with the actual musical culture is of the utmost importance, and this concept shines through in his original productions as well as live sets. His commitment to providing a truly cohesive underground club culture influenced lo-fi bass music experience is unparalleled in the industry, and should not be underestimated.
