Coffee Talk With Ponyride Artist In Residence: Romelle
More Less
PLAYGROUND DETROIT has recently relocated our office to Ponyride and we are in the process of developing a new partnered artist residency program! This program has been piloted with a one-month Spring Artist in Residence, Romelle, who is living and working at Ponyride. We are looking forward to introducing her to other Ponyride tenants and the Detroit community.

Please join us for a causal coffee talk with her at Anthology Coffee this Thursday at noon where she will discuss her inspiration, work and goals with the residency. She would love to meet & collaborate with members of the Detroit community! We are also looking for community input and feedback on what would be most valuable for local artists to get out of the upcoming residency program.

Special thanks to Kianna Doggan for her generous paint supplies donation.

Romelle is an artist, designer, and musician whose work can often be seen as an abstract expression of what she experiences in her everyday life. A metro Detroit native, she graduated from the University of Colorado with two degrees in Studio Art & Advertising, with a minor in 'Technology, Arts & Media' and a certificate in Music Technology.

Her recent work revolves around the idea of healing, and inspired on many levels by the regeneration and healing of the city itself over the past few years. The overall idea of "healing", especially through music & art is not only a personal retrospective, but a subject that she is interested to explore on a deeper level.
