Day 6 : Dj Lena With Mizz Chavez says

DJ LENA, Emulator Artist

Nowadays anyone with a computer can be a DJ. But not everyone can be an Emulator Artist. DJ Lena embraces technology in a way that is both entertaining and accessible. She uses a 42" Emulator DVS system that allows the crowd to see what she is doing and more importantly gives her another way to communicate with the audience. This brings the performance to a whole new level.

DJ Lena is a native Detroiter who continues the musical legacy of her father, who made a career in music education and as a tenor soloist. DJ Lena translates her love of soulful harmonies and fierce beats to the club scene. She loves nothing more than inspiring a room of people to dance!

How Theresa actually got into djing was just being curious how to do it. She's pretty much self taught, but had her fellow dj friends give her the basics. It started out as a hobby once she got her very first set-up. She'll never forget her debut playing at a house party. Her friends encouraged her to keep at it. Eventually, she moved to Detroit in the fall of 2004. Hoping to have more opportunities playing out. Her first Detroit show was downstairs at Grand Trunk Pub, then Foran's, alongside DJ Psycho and John Johr. She continued to play many other events throughout the years. She's played 4 years at The annual festival Tec-Troit. Some of the djs she's shared the stage with include Minx, Terrence Parker, Paul Johnson, Terry Mullen, Jeff Woodward, Aux 88, DJ Godfather, Brian Gillespie, Gene Farris, K-Hand, and many more.

Resident DJs Tyler Yglesias and RJ Stefanski start out the night.
