Detroit Folk Workshop Happy Hour Series -
Friday, January 8th
5pm - 7pm Free

We had so much fun playing happy hour last month, we decided to make a thing out of it. This Friday Januray 8th Lac La Belle will play a free happy hour show; next in the Detroit Folk Workshop Happy Hour Series is Behind The Times January 22!

Influenced by early Americana, multi-instrumentalists and songwriters Jennie Knaggs & Nick Schillace create music that blend history with the present via accordion, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, harmonizing vocals, and fingerpicking resonator guitar. With their separate experiences learning folk and blues in Appalachia, American roots bind Lac La Belle’s compositions with a heavy thread. For this performance hear Lac La Belle on the small stage, feeling casual! They'll performing some of their favorite old time, bluegrass and western swing favorites, alongside their original tunes.

Exploring, teaching, and promoting traditional music and the natural evolution of culture, Detroit Folk Workshop was founded by local musicians and business owners Nick Schillace and Jennie Knaggs in 2015. With the goal of advocating acoustic music in our region, Detroit Folk Workshop hopes to highlight the multifaceted musical roots of our diverse community, including ethnic musical traditions as well as contemporary music influenced by such traditions.
