We are EXTREMELY excited to be having our fifth meeting and workshop series of the year on Friday, March 20th hosted by Tawana Honeycomb Petty at "Conscious Corner Cafe/Rhyme and Reason" from 7:00 to 9:30!!! Tawana has been featured on NPR / WDET, AM 1440, FM 107.5, Tv50’s Street Beat, on former Detroit Councilwoman JoAnn Watson’s television program Wake Up Detroit, on the Motown Writers Network, on Urban National Radio, and on former Rolling Stone Editor Dave Marsh’s national radio program Living in the Land of Hopes and Dreams. Her work and writings have also been featured in the Huffington Post, the Michigan Citizen, on, on and in Red Pepper Magazine (UK). She has been a featured speaker and performer at several colleges, universities, primary and secondary schools, including but not limited to, Michigan State, University of Michigan, Wayne State University, the New School, Tufts University, Oakland University, University of Illinois, University High School, Timbuktu Academy and the Boggs Educational Center. Needless to say, this workshop is guaranteed to be a great time, and will definitely help your creative writing, and stage performance no matter what level you're currently writing/performing at. We will also be filling you in on the latest Detroit poetry news, events and our actions for changes that will be taking place for poetry in Detroit. We can't wait to see you there!!
