Dyv Hip Hop Violin Album Release Party says
This is our gift to Detroit! You're invited to a hip hop violin album release performance featuring Eastside youth from Detroit Youth Volume performing classical Suzuki violin pieces with
three local hip-hop artists' beats. FREE! Watch our video from Knight Foundation: vimeo.com/136102484

RSVP on eventbrite is prefered but not required. Please note, there's a 200-person capacity at the space.

The most exciting things happening in Detroit today are creative projects led by youth of color. In their 5th anniversary year, youth violinists from Detroit Youth Volume won over $20k from Knight Arts & a People's Choice Award to professionally record 3 masterpieces integrating internationally-loved Suzuki violin repertoire with hip hop beats from world-class, locally-loved artists Sterling Toles, Stevie Soul & Nick Speed. While wearing fabulous outfits individually made for each performer, the youth violinists & their hip hop mentors are ready to unveil collaborative jams to celebrate, reflect and further what’s happening, and what’s been happening, in the City of Detroit.
