The Ana Masry Band was founded as part of the Ana Masry Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting the common heritage and historic diversity in Egypt and Egyptian expatriate communities around the world. The American version of the ensemble, based in Washington, D.C., features multiple vocalists and instrumentalists performing an all-inclusive swath of Egyptian and neighboring music, from the classics of Oum Kalthoum to Nubian folk songs. This marks the group’s first performance in the Detroit area.
