Sea Heikes rode her bicycle 80 miles to follow the Detroit River to the top of Lake St Clair. Her intention was to connect to the water and take field recordings in the form of video, photo, and sound. The thing that struck her the most was how little access to the water most people have, as most of the lake is privately owned.

This performance is always site-responsive, so this version of the performance will be more of a meditation on lack of access. The performance will include participants from the workshops, projected video from the bicycle trip, and sound.

Performance will be on Thursday, July 14th @ 9pm
@ Spread Art (doors open 8:30)

Sea Heikes will host a two workshops that culminates in a performance with participants.

Monday July 11th 6-9pm
Tuesday July 12th 6-9pm

This Workshop is being held at Light Box.

Light Box
8641 Linwood St.

Through Butoh, Body Weather, and Somatic Movement practices we discover the processes and phenomena that we normally consider "outside of ourselves" to be contained within the flesh. Our specific inquiry for this workshop is around the Noguchi idea of "water body".

Three hour workshop is broken into four parts:
1. Introductory experiment to help loosen daily self from the body. Involving a sensory exploration (often blindfolded to help open other senses).
2. Deep Relaxation Exercises
3. 45 minute Kinesthetic Movement (be prepared to sweat - A LOT) Mind-Body dynamic is challenged.
4. Partner work, using movement experiments to create snippets of choreography

A change of clothes may be necessary. Bring water. Maybe a light snack. The workshop is for anyone - no experience necessary
