While the Fox Creek Canal is a relatively modern articulation on the geographic landscape of Detroit, its origin from what was once Fox Creek has a much deeper history as a watershed feature of the Grand Marais (Big Marsh). The Grand Marais was drained in the late 1800s to eventually become Grosse Pointe and outlying terrain. The historical import of Fox Creek abounds with countless affordances offered through its bio-dynamic physicality on the Detroit landscape. Today, in the year 2015, it continues to be a diverse cultural biome, retaining its watershed dynamic for both the human and nonhuman. This book proposes a blueprint for procession towards a collective refrain of place.
